PRESERVE STH
/PRESERVE STH/ is about fashion sustainability. Hong Kong is an overcrowded city where people often use vacuum bag to store their clothing. My design inspiration comes from the concept of “shrinking theme” = more for less. I have compressed the fabric scraps with biodegradable plastic (eco-friendly) to create a new type of material. The unisex design direction is stylish and comes with a strong theme of Zero wastage.

IMPERFECT BEAUTY
This message of this collection is to say no to racism and to bring forth the celebration of individuality. There is no defined beauty in humans, whether in race, skin colour, body shape or appearance. In a similar way, there is no rules in fashion design. Fashion creation could also be unique in its innovative composition of playing with new fabrics and trimmings by processes such as bleaching. Instead of applying ready-to-made material that has no soul, creating specialized and unique surface appearance would add organic value into canvas and denim. Through adding an exaggerated form and silhouette, this collection expresses the essence of imperfection in beauty, reminding us to appreciate the uniqueness and individuality in beauty, fashion and humans.

VIOLENCE
The design inspiration comes from the word ‘Violence’. Design elements used in the form of slashing, pleating, blood stains and bondage depict the feelings of the victims who suffer from domestic violence. Through this collection, I hope to emphasize that we should all say no to domestic violence.

Behind The Color
The current pollution problems that have resulted from fast fashion are becoming more and more serious. They continue to destroy the global ecological environment. Through the theme of ‘Behind The Color’, I hope to arouse people’s attention to the pollution problem of the fashion industry through recycling and reconstruction of old clothes. Dirty olive green and dark blue were chosen as the main colors to create a “dirty & used” feeling. Through the collecting and reusing of abandon swatches from the school workshops and then embroidering them into my design, I hope to highlight and depict the dark and harmful elements behind the perceived glamorous fashion industry.
